The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is taking several actions to promote public safety, mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 (corona virus), and maintain our high standards for public service. In accordance with the guidance of the Office of the Governor and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, TSLAC has implemented a combination of social distancing practices along with continuing public service via online and other distributed work models.
The staff of TSLAC will continue supporting the information needs of Texans, state and local governments, libraries, and communities statewide. We are providing our stakeholders with information on how to access our resources online and how to reach our team of specialists by phone or email for assistance and continued service:
- The Records Management Assistance team will continue to provide consulting services via email and phone. General questions may be directed to 512-463-7610 or by email to slrminfo@tsl.texas.gov. See below for links to find contact info for your assigned analyst.
- State and local agencies using our records storage and imaging services can continue to contact us as normal, and access accounts via TexLinx as always.
- State agencies and local governments can continue to request access to their records and arrange for transfer of records to our records storage center.
- While we must temporarily suspend our in-person training services, our team of government information analysts continue their mission of creating and updating training materials and working with state and local agencies to develop and update records retention schedules.
Even though this is not business as usual, we are still committed and available to assist you despite the ongoing crisis. If you cannot reach your analyst by phone – as we may be telecommuting – please email your assigned analyst with any records management questions or concerns.

State and local archivists and records managers should be thinking about preserving the records that document their agencies’ response to this crisis. This is a historical event and some records that would normally be routine and not worth preserving will be valuable for future research.
