Hi! I’m Gina Cervantes, a Government Information Analyst in the State and Local Records Management (SLRM) division at the TSLAC. I joined the SLRM group in January 2017 and serve local governments in the South Texas Region. I’m an Austin native and grew up in South Austin.
I’ve been in records management for 12 years. I started my RIM (Records and Information Management) career as a contractor for a state agency, first as a file clerk and quickly advancing to a retention analyst. I provided training and consulted the agency staff on retention and records management needs. My greatest joy professionally comes from learning all I can about RIM practices and Information Governance, then sharing that knowledge by providing guidance to clients.
As a member of ARMA International (Association of Records Managers and Administrators), I serve on the board of directors of Austin ARMA. In November 2016 I was approved to sit for the Certified Records Managers (CRM) exam and hope to take my first round of testing in May 2017.
TSLAC is a great place for me to grow and learn more about the profession I love. Surrounded by a great team of analysts and management staff, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at TSLAC.
