The essential functions of your organization determine what records are essential. These may include:<\/p>\n<h2>Records necessary for emergency response<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/emergency-evacuation-plan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1554\" title=\"emergency-evacuation-plan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/emergency-evacuation-plan.jpg\" alt=\"Emergency Evacuation Plan\" width=\"200\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Emergency and\/or Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan {How do you respond to a fire, water pipe leak, bomb threat, etc.}<\/li>\n<li>Maps and building plans {Where is your computer server room located in relation to the area of your facility that\u2019s flooded, for example? What of emergency routes to and from your primary and alternate facility?}<\/li>\n<li>Emergency contact information {How do you contact various members of your staff via phone or e-mail; or foot, if lines of communication are down?}<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Records necessary to resume or continue operations<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/paycheck.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1556\" title=\"paycheck\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/paycheck.jpg\" alt=\"paycheck\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Payroll {How will you continue to pay your staff?}<\/li>\n<li>Prison, jail, and parole records {When is someone eligible for parole?}<\/li>\n<li>Insurance records {What are the details and limits of the coverage for your agency and your staff?}<\/li>\n<li>Orders of succession and delegations of authority {Who will be in charge if your manager or director is unavailable? What were the results of the election?
