What records management goals do you have for 2023? Here are a few ideas to get you thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In honor of the season, let&#8217;s do a little countdown&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background wp-block-heading\">3. Find Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Records management can be a lonely business. Even though we here at TSLAC understand that managing records is everyone\u2019s job, we also know it&#8217;s a task that sometimes gets cordoned off to one specific person or department. It\u2019s possible to go it alone, but it\u2019s more fun if you have someone to trade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/blog\/2020\/04\/rim-month-fun-memes\/\">niche memes<\/a> with. If you\u2019re feeling lonesome in your records management role, make 2023 the year you get out there and make some records management friends and allies!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get to Know Your Records Management &#8220;Neighbors&#8221; <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you work for a local government, reach out to similar governments nearby, and if you work for a state agency try saying hello to the RMOs at similar agencies. You may find that your new records management bestie was next-door all along!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Join Some Groups <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are many organizations for records management professionals that offer email lists, training, and conferences to attend. Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/slrm\/training\/external\">External Resources page<\/a> for a list of professional organizations you can join. Here are some good places to start:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rmicc.state.tx.us\/\">RMICC<\/a>, the Records Management Interagency Coordinating Counsel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dir.texas.gov\/about-dir\/collaboration\/state-agency-coordinating-committee-sacc\">SACCRIM<\/a>, the State Agency Coordinating Committee Records and Information Management subcommittee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arma.org\/\">ARMA International<\/a>, the&nbsp;Association of Records Managers and Administrators (there may also be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arma.org\/page\/LocalChapters\">local chapter<\/a> near you)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nagara.org\/\">NAGARA<\/a>, the National Association of Government Archives &amp; Records Administrators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background wp-block-heading\">2. Tackle a Clean-up Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is there a back room full of boxes that you\u2019ve been meaning to clean out? Do you have several years\u2019 worth of emails sitting in your inbox, unsorted?
