Proposed Revisions to Local Retention Schedules
As part of our effort to maintain up-to-date local retention schedules, we will be posting proposed revisions to the Local Retention Schedules as they are revised and prepared for review by our Commission. Presenting drafts to our Commission is the first step in our Local Schedule approval process. However, before we begin the official update process we would like to solicit feedback from the local governments we serve.
In order to solicit feedback, drafts of the proposed revisions to the schedules will be periodically posted below. Please stay tuned to our blog, The Texas Record, for announcements as proposed revisions are posted to this page.
CAUTION: The following documents are DRAFTS ONLY. They may not be used to determine retention periods.
Current Proposed Revisions
We are accepting public comment on proposed revisions to Local Schedules CC, DC, LC, PS, concerning juvenile records. The proposed amendments include revisions necessary to keep the schedule up-to-date with current laws and administrative rules, and to improve retention of public records. Specifically, House Bill 2398, 84th Legislative Session, revised court jurisdiction and procedures relating to truancy and Senate Bill 1304, 85th Legislative Session, revised Chapter 58 of Texas Family Code. This legislation requires revised retention requirements for juvenile records. Please note other sections of the schedules are not being revised at this time; only revisions to sections relating to retention of juvenile records are being proposed at this time.
The copy of the schedule posted in the Texas Register is a clean version of the schedule and does not show all revisions. To aid in your review, a marked up version of the schedule and a summary of changes are available below.
