The(TSLAC) and the (DIR) are pleased to announce a one-day conference for state government officials involved in the management of electronic records. This educational event seeks to improve electronic records management in Texas government through the use of statewide standards and best practices.
As part of TSLAC’s legislative mandate, the Commission partners with the Department of Information Resources to provide training for records management and information technology staff on managing records in an electronic format. Together, records and information technology staff can address the growing and overwhelming issue of the effective management of electronic information including conversion, maintenance, destruction, migration, confidentiality, accessibility, and physical protection.

This dynamic one-day conference is for State of Texas Information Resources Managers (IRM), Records Management Officers (RMO), legal counsel and others responsible for and interested in developing a cross-functional approach for managing State records. The conference will answer timely questions facing records, legal, and information management professionals to give you information you can use. A systematic approach to managing digital information using recognized records management principles, is the key to finding information when you need it. Topics covered include:
- The intersection of e-discovery and information management
- Legal and regulatory compliance developments and issues
- Records and information best practices
- Incorporating governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) into the process of managing information assets
Barclay T. Blair is a consultant and internationally acclaimed speaker and author specializing in the compliance, policy, and management issues of information technology. He is the co-author of Information Nation: Seven Keys to Information Management Compliance, and is Director of the IT Compliance Practice at Kahn Consulting, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois.
