Texas Talking Book patrons: please join us on Tuesday July 21st at 7 pm (Central Time) for our book club discussion of STORY OF ARTHUR TRULUV by Elizabeth Berg (DB 89990, BR 22155)
Grieving widower Arthur eats lunch in the cemetery every day, to be near his wife’s grave. There he meets troubled teenage Maddy, and the pair form a friendship that helps them both out of their isolation. Some strong language and some descriptions of sex. Commercial audiobook. 2017.
Our book club meetings are hosted via toll free conference call, so all you need is a telephone to participate. To RSVP call the Talking Book Program and leave a voicemail at: 1-800-252-9605 or email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org. RSVP preferred by June 30th. Please indicate if you would like us to mail you the digital cartridge or if you prefer to download it from BARD.
We’re thinking about changing the format of our Book Club discussions to provide a better experience for moderators and attendees. One of the options we are considering is an operator-assisted call. We hope to test this option at the upcoming book club meeting. We will have more specific information to provide the week before we meet. We will contact all those who RSVP with additional information. Thank you for being willing to work with us to make our book club the best it can be.
We request that everyone remember the following:
- Keep external distractions to a minimum.
- Be courteous. Try not to interrupt or talk over others; give everyone a chance to talk; be respectful of differing opinions.
- Keep discussion points concise and relevant to the book.
- If comfortable doing so, please preface your comments with your first name.
We look forward to having you join us on Tuesday July 21st!
