{"id":6655,"date":"2024-10-22T09:03:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-22T14:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/texastalkingbooks\/?p=6655"},"modified":"2024-10-21T10:38:18","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T15:38:18","slug":"2024-macarthur-fellows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/texastalkingbooks\/2024\/10\/22\/2024-macarthur-fellows\/","title":{"rendered":"2024 MacArthur Fellows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MacArthur Fellowship is a &#8220;no-strings-attached&#8221; award in support of people who show exceptional creativity, a promise for future important advances based on a track record of significant accomplishments, and potential for subsequent creative work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recipients may be writers, scientists, artists, social scientists, humanists, teachers, entrepreneurs, or individuals in other fields, with or without institutional affiliations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By providing these individuals with unfettered support in pursuit of creative activities, the Fellows Program seeks to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cultivate the next generation of innovators;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight the importance of imaginative thinking in creating objects of beauty that inspire;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spotlight the value of risk-taking in addressing deep-rooted societal problems; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Influence how people think about creativity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fellowship is not a lifetime achievement award\u2014it is an investment in a person&#8217;s originality, insight, and potential.
