Lending Policy for Irving Public Library

Texshare cards can be issued to Irving residents 18 years or older and who have maintained a regular card in good standing for the previous 6 months. The card expires when the Irving Public Library card expires up to one year and the account must be maintained in good standing in order to renew the card.

Texshare visitors that come to the Irving Library are restricted to a 5 item checkout limit. The Texshare Visitor cardholder does have access to public computers and the library’s E-book collections. The card must be maintained in good standing in order to renew the card.

The library does not charge late fees, but the card is blocked for further checkout until the items have been returned or resolved. Delinquent accounts may be referred to the library's collection agency and charged an $8.95 fee.

Eligibility: Texshare cards are issued at the check-out desk at any of the Irving Public Libraries.

The Irving Public Library will issue a library card to a Texshare visitor from another library who presents a valid photo ID with a current address, the Texshare card, and the home library card. The card will be valid until the expiration date on the Texshare card or 6 months (whichever is less). The account must be maintained in good standing in order to renew the Texshare card.

Failure to return materials borrowed with a TexShare card and/or pay any charges imposed by a TexShare library may result in suspension or denial of borrowing privileges at the Irving Public Library and/or your account being turned over the library's collection agency

Friday and Saturday: 10am -6pm

Valley Ranch Library
Monday-Thursday: 10am -9pm
Friday and Saturday: 10am -6pm

Card Availability: Library cards can be issued when the library is open and stop being issued at 10 minutes prior to closing.

Renewals: You may renew materials in person at any location. Via telephone: 972-721-2580 Via online at the library's website. Please login with your card number and PIN.

Returns: All Irving library locations have outside book drops available 24 hours per day. Materials may be returned any of the four library locations in Irving.

Overdues: Notices are sent by mail or email. The library also uses phone notifications. A final notice is also the bill for the item(s). The library does not charge late fees, but the card is blocked for further checkout until the items have been returned or resolved. Recalls: No recalls. If item is on Hold or more than 10 days overdue, no renewal granted.

Non_Circ_Items: Reference, Genealogy, Local History, Bound and microform serials, and most federal and city government documents.

Loan Policies: All items are checked out for 21 days with up to three 21 day renewals allowed except for DVDs or BluRays which have a 10 day checkout with a one 10 day renewal allowed. High demand items on hold may be checked out for 10 days.

Fines: The library does not charge late fees, but the card is blocked for further checkout until the items have been returned or resolved. Delinquent accounts may be referred to the library's collection agency and charged an $8.95 fee. Lost Items: Items are considered lost 45 days after due date and a final notice/invoice for materials is sent to borrower. If items are not returned by 75 days, the account may be turned over to the library's collection agency. The charge to the patron is the listed cost to replace the lost or damaged materials plus a processing fee.
