Focus Group Attendance

Himmel & Wilson, Library Consultants conducted 42 focus groups in 21 locations throughout Texas as part of Phase Two- Data Gathering of the Texas Public Library Development Study. The focus groups provided the consultant team with a landscape view of Texas libraries' diversity, successes and challenges.


Where and when were the focus groups?

At a Glance


A total of 476 people attended at least one focus group session.

Half of the focus group sessions were for library directors or their designees. A total of 272 participants representating 242 different libraries attended these sessions.

The balance of the focus group sessions were for library trustees, Friends, lay representatives and volunteers. A total of 195 participants representing 103 different libraries attended these sessions.

Nine additional people attended one of the sessions. These included State Library Commissioners, academic librarians and a school librarian.

The consultant team was pleased with the focus group response and level of participation.
