Austin, TX – The Texas State Library and Archives Commission is excited to announce the launch of "Talking Book Voices," a captivating podcast that dives into the world of the Texas Talking Book Program (TBP). This new podcast invites listeners to join TBP program staff, librarians and fellow readers on an enriching journey celebrating the power of accessible reading materials.

The Texas Talking Book Program, a division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC), serves as a regional library for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, a division of the Library of Congress. Since 1931, this invaluable program has provided specialized library services to Texans with qualifying visual, physical or reading disabilities, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can access the world of literature.

In each engaging episode of "Talking Book Voices," hosts will guide listeners through an audio journey to uncover the heart of this program, exploring its rich history, sharing inspiring stories and peeking into its vast collection of accessible materials, including resources for those with dyslexia. The podcast will also feature the latest updates, interviews with program experts and conversations with patrons who have benefited immensely from this essential service. Additionally, episodes will offer valuable tips and insights to help individuals maximize the benefits of the Texas Talking Book Program.

“We hope the podcast is a one-stop shop where people can find out all things TBP and meet some of the people that make things happen,’ said Talking Book Program Director Ann Minner. “’Talking Book Voices’ is designed for everyone, whether you're an avid reader looking for new literary experiences, someone with a print disability in search of accessible reading materials or simply curious to learn more about this remarkable program.”
