Reimagining Sherlock Holmes

Do you love reading the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle? Perhaps you loved how Robert Downey Jr. portrayed him in the recent movie adaptations or enjoyed how Benedict Cumberbatch depicted the detective in the BBC television series Sherlock. Here are several re-imaginings of the consummate detective. Some stories imagine him in his youth, others place him at the height of his career, while others depict him in retirement with a young apprentice. Some explore the lives of other characters found in the original stories such as Professor Moriarty and Irene Adler. Other books follow the exploits of younger relatives and descendants. We’ve even included books for younger readers at the bottom of the list. For you nonfiction types, we’ve included two books that delve into the story behind the Sherlock Holmes phenomenon.
