Description:
Covers Texas, Oregon, California, the Indian Territory, the Missouri Territory, New Mexico, the Iowa Territory; parts of Wisconsin, Missouri, Arkansas; part of Canada; the Mexican states of Old (Baja) California, Sonora, Chihuahua; parts of Durango, Coahuila, Nueva Leon, and Tamaulipas. Shows rivers, lakes, mountainous and forested areas, counties in Texas, cities, towns, forts, trading posts, roads, Indian tribes and ruins, and routes and trails, including Fremont's routes, the emigrant route to Oregon, the Spanish road and the caravan route to Santa Fe. There is chart of distances for the Oregon route. Note: "The boundary of Oregon as proposed by the United States is colored blue and that proposed by Great Britain is colored red." There is a note in Spanish which is accompanied by an inked line drawn on the map, from Texas to the Pacific Ocean - "lo que quiere tomar los E.S. (that which the United States wishes to take.) Two copies.
