Description:
Covers parts of New Mexico, the Indian Territory, Arkansas, and Louisiana in addition to Texas. Shows rivers, mountainous areas, counties, cities, towns, ethnic settlements, roads, operating and proposed railroads, routes and trails--including Indian trails and military expeditions (giving dates and names of leaders), missions, forts, camps, and Indian tribes and agencies. There are remarks on topography and wildlife. Insets: 1) Plan of Galveston Bay from the U.S. Coast Survey, 2) Plan of Sabine Lake, soundings are given. Map 1604 is a later edition of this map.
