Description:
Covers the Texas, the Indian Territory, and parts of adjoining states. Shows rivers, creeks, mountainous areas, towns, cities, counties, roads, railroads, routes and dates of military expeditions, other routes and trails--including pioneer routes and the Southern Overland Mail Route, forts, camps, mines (lead, copper, and silver), some ranches, and Indian tribes, agencies, and reservations. There are some topographical remarks on the map. Inset: [Western Portion of West Texas]. This map was published in Southern and Western Texas Guide for 1878, by James L. Rock and W.I. Smith (A.H. Granger, St. Louis, Missouri, 1878). Reverse contains a map of the United States, map 1481. Map 1480a seems to be another edition of the Texas map. 3/14/83
