Manuscript book of 114 sheets, each covering a portion of the King's Highway or Old San Antonio Road. Shows markers placed along the road, rivers, creeks, roads, and railroads crossed; cities, towns, ferries, depots, ranches, houses, forts, missions, prehistoric mounds, and schools along the route. Each sheet has a chart showing the number of feet between compass bearings used the mark the road from post to post. Note: "I certify that this trail has been marked by granite bolders, inspected & dedicated, March Second, 1920", by Mrs. Lipscomb Norvell, State Chairman Old Trails Committee, Daughters of the American Revolution. One page contains a preface by the author regarding his personal experiences during the field work of the survey and the placing of the granite markers. Another page contains an entry from the diary of a Spanish priest, Morfi., for December 25-31, 1778, in regard to a trip he took over part of the road. Table: Table of Distances.
This volume of maps was microfilmed in Oct. 2001. A master negative is stored at the State Records Center, two use copies are available at the State Archives.
