Flow tank on fire near Eastland

From 1917 to around 1922, Eastland was the center of an incredible boom in the oil industry. In 1919, the peak year, 22 million barrels of oil flowed from wells in Eastland County. The population increased by 35,000, presenting tremendous challenges in law enforcement, sanitation, and other community services.
