Dolph Briscoe

Governor Briscoe greets Egyptian president Anwar Sadat at Ellington Field in Houston. Sadat was one of the leaders of the Arab world, first for his role in war with Israel in 1973, then for his historic willingness to negotiate a settlement with Israel at Camp David. Sadat and Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 for their peace initiatives.
