Richards dances with her escort, Edwin "Bud" Shrake, at the inaugural ball, January 15, 1991. Shrake was a multi-talented writer, well-known as a sportswriter, journalist, author of novels such as Blessed McGill and The Borderland, and co-author of celebrity books. One of these, Harvey Penick's Little Red Book, was the best-selling sports book of all time.
