Another country star to perform at Governor Smith's inauguration was Jeanie C. Riley, best known for her smash hit, "Harper Valley PTA," the saga of a mini-skirt wearing widow who puts a hypocritical town school board in its place. A native of Anson, Texas, Riley went on to become a popular performer of contemporary Christian music.
