AUSTIN – The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) is now accepting applications for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) Research Fellowship in Texas history. The fellowship includes a $2,000 stipend and is awarded for the best research proposal utilizing the collections of the State Archives in Austin.

AUSTIN – The Texas Center for the Book is seeking qualified non-profit organizations that have made outstanding contributions to increasing literacy in Texas for the Third Annual Texas Center for the Book Literacy Award. The winning organization will receive a $1,000 cash award to assist in its future work promoting reading and combating illiteracy. Additionally, an honorable mention recipient will be awarded $500.

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three new members to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and reappointed Commissioner Fenton L. “Lynwood” Givens. Givens will take over an unexpired term set to expire Sept. 28, 2021, and new appointee David C. Garza will finish out a term set to expire Sept. 28, 2019. New appointees Arthur T. Mann and Darryl Tocker were appointed to full terms set to expire Sept. 28, 2023.
