The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) intends to contract with one (1) qualified vendor with the appropriate experience and skill to plan and conduct fourteen (14) workshops (Workshop), with 6.5 hours of instruction at each Workshop, on the topic of teaching and troubleshooting patron technology issues at a library (Project).  There are approximately 400 small and rural libraries in Texas, serving populations of 25,000 people or less. In addition to juggling other library responsibilities, these libraries face significant challenges serving the technology training needs of their communities due to the outsized demand from library users compared to the size and knowledge of the library's staff. The results of a recent survey of Texas public library staff indicate their desire to meet this challenge: teaching and troubleshooting technology with library patrons were identified as two of the most requested areas for training.

  • The Workshops will be delivered at fourteen (14) pre-determined locations in Texas and will be conducted between September 2017 and May 2018. The target audience for these Workshops is staff working at small public libraries who assist patrons using library computers, and who have limited technology knowledge, technology teaching and troubleshooting experience and/or training themselves.
  • Awarded Vendor must develop a workshop presentation for the Workshop that includes sufficient detail and delivery media to effectively convey the information being delivered to participants who may be hearing impaired or have other disabilities.
