The Library Science Collection (LSC) is a unique collection consisting of materials specific to a library audience.  It's often referred to as the "Librarian's Library."

The collection exists so that library staff in communities, schools, and organizations in Texas may have access to professional library resources to enhance decision making and learning, as well as to support adoption of recognized standards and processes for the development of quality library services and collections.

Loan Periods and Renewals

This is for items borrowed from the Library Science Collection prior to June 2020.

Most library materials may be borrowed for four weeks and renewals are available upon request. High-demand materials may be borrowed for a three-week non-renewable loan period. Reservations are accepted for on-order and circulating materials. Requested materials are sent as soon as they become available.

Returns and Overdue Items

This is for items borrowed from the Library Science Collection prior to June 2020.

Borrowers pay return postage. Materials may be returned by mail using U.S. Postal Service Library Rate. The purchase of postal insurance and/or USPS delivery confirmation is recommended as well, since borrowers are responsible for materials until they are returned to the collection from which they were checked out. There is no fine for overdue items, but an invoice will be issued when an item is six weeks overdue; borrowers will be charged replacement costs for lost items.

Appropriate return mail labels are included in packages of materials mailed. You may return borrowed materials in-person or use a delivery service of your choice. Deliver to the Library Science Collection located in the Lorenzo de Zavala State Library and Archives Building, 1201 Brazos Street, Room 414, Austin TX 78701. Borrowers in libraries with membership in the Amigos Texpress Courier may direct packages to the Texas State Library and Archives at 83/AUS attention LSC.
