TexShare Update: New Year, New Resources!

Join TexShare Database Coordinator Russlene Waukechon and Statewide Resource Sharing Coordinator Danielle Plumer for an overview of new electronic resources available to TexShare member libraries through the TexShare Database Program and plans for the coming year. This is the first in a series of webinars that will assist TexShare members in sharing expertise and infrastructure, improving access, leveraging resources, and spreading the word about TexShare!

Learn for Success: Navigating New ProQuest TexShare Collection

This 3 hour face to face course will cover the ProQuest Science and Technology database.  Come learn strategies on how to best navigate this database, and better prepare to serve your patrons. Whether you’re a public or academic librarian who wants to support STEM education goals, this session is for you. The training session will include several hands on activities to get you familiar with the resource types and the ProQuest platform. Come ready to learn and network with your colleagues in the area.

New Resources and Features from EBSCO Databases

This workshop will provide a hands-on, interactive overview of two new resources from Ebsco:

1) Join us for a tour of TexShare’s new LearningExpress Library Plus subscription. This is the most powerful version of the LearningExpress Library platform, developed exclusively for TexShare. It includes 200 additional resources and two enhanced learning centers; College Center Plus and Career Center Plus. We will review the user interface, cover key platform features, sample new resource types and cover enhancements.

2) Legal Information Reference Center contains hundreds of full-text publications and thousands of general and state-specific legal forms. Basic and advanced features of the LIRC will be demonstrated along with finding forms and specific publications. We will also take a look at new ways to search and limit within Explora, Small Business Reference Center, Small Engine Repair Reference Center and EBSCOhost. Bring your questions and suggested search topics and we will discover many ways to use these great resources.

Homework Help and School Outreach *New Way to Search using Explora

Public Librarians will want to join in on the Homework Help and School Outreach for an overview of the key features and functionality in the NEW Explora interfaces for public libraries.  We will explore reading level limiters, Primary Source Documents and using the MYEBSCOhost folder as a resource evaluation tool in the first half.  The second half is for database administrators or those who would like to view key areas of customization available in Explora for your library using the EBSCO Administration tool.  Bring your questions and we will discover new ways to use these great resources.

This session is intended for library administrators and others who would like to learn more about the customization options within your EBSCOhost resources. We’ll look at key customizations for EBSCOhost, Explora and your other interfaces including: setting up your searching defaults, customizing branding; creating customized search boxes; and running usage reports.  We will also discuss cleaning up your list of profiles so that it is easier to manage your resources.
