FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Liberty, TX – The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center (SHC) invites readers to participate in quarterly book club meetings on the fourth Tuesday of January, April, July and October of 2025. SHC’s quarterly book club features works of fiction related to museums, archives and libraries. Led by a member of the SHC staff, discussions take place from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Center and are free and open to the public.

The first selection for the 2025 SHC Quarterly Book Club is the novel The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. Fikry is a widower who owns a bookshop on a small island and seems to have lost the joy of living. A series of events, including a stolen book and the arrival of a surprise package, alter his course and his perspective. Join the discussion on Tuesday, January 28 at 6 p.m.

SHC Quarterly Book Club 2025 Schedule:

January 28 – The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, by Gabrielle Zevin

April 22 – The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, by Kim Michele Richardson

July 22 – War Librarian, by Addison Armstrong

October 28 – Cloud Cuckoo Land, by Anthony Doerr

Interested participants may obtain a copy of each novel through their local library or favorite bookstore to prepare for the quarterly conversations. For more information, contact SHC staff at (936) 336-8821 or via email at SamHoustonCenter@tsl.texas.gov.
