FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Austin, TX – The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is pleased to announce that its popular E-Read Texas e-books program will be moving to CloudLibrary, an application from OCLC. TSLAC anticipates that most libraries will be up and running with CloudLibrary by the end of March.
CloudLibrary will offer participating libraries all the familiar features they expect, such as pausing holds and adding titles to wish lists, and adds new features such as the ability to preview books before checkout, more options to customize the text display of e-books and compatibility with CarPlay and Android Auto. Participating libraries will also have administrative capabilities such as viewing circulation reports and posting announcements in the app.
TSLAC’s E-Read Texas program started in 2019 and provides e-books and downloadable audiobooks to small-to-medium sized public libraries across the state. The collection includes more than 18,000 e-book and audiobook titles, mostly comprised of adult fiction and popular non-fiction. Eligible Texas public libraries not already participating in the program can join later this spring, once the transition to CloudLibrary is complete. Libraries are encouraged to check the E-Read Texas website for additional information and eligibility criteria: www.tsl.texas.gov/ldn/ebooks.
OCLC's CloudLibrary is pleased to partner with TSLAC to deliver a seamless digital reading experience for library patrons. Patrons can easily discover and borrow millions of ebooks and audiobooks through the app. OCLC acquired CloudLibrary in April 2024 to support public libraries in their efforts to successfully manage accelerated shifts to digital collections.
CloudLibrary replaces the previous app, Boundless, which shuttered in December due to the closure of the vendor, Baker & Taylor.
