Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allows us to share resources with other libraries. Registered patrons of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) are eligible to request materials to be borrowed for them through ILL. Patrons from other libraries wishing to borrow materials from our collections should contact their local library staff. We accept requests for our materials from library staff only.

Instructions for requesting ILL Materials

First check the TSLAC online catalog. If the item is not available:

  • Go to www.texasgroup.worldcat.org.
  • Search for material in the Texas Group Catalog using the basic default search or the advanced search.
  • A list of search results will appear. To narrow your search results, use the options on the left side.
  • When you have decided on a specific record, click on the title.
  • Scroll down and click on the Request Item button.
  • Choose Texas State Library and Archives Commission as your home library from the resulting drop-down list.
  • Click Continue and log in with your library card number and PIN.
  • On the ‘Request this item’ screen, complete all required fields.
  • Click Continue to submit your request.
  • You will receive an e-mail when the item is received.

Your ILL requests can be reviewed from the Texas Group page. This option is found under the top left Texas Group Catalog pull-down menu. Hover over the arrow, and then click on My Requests.

Please note that ILL materials may take two to six weeks to arrive.

If you have questions about your request, contact the Interlibrary Loan staff by e-mail or by phone at 512-463-5455.
