Texas America250 Libraries
Texans of all ages are invited celebrate and learn our nation's history through their library in 2026!
We encourage all libraries to participate in TSLAC’s statewide Texas America250 Reading Challenge. Find materials for the challenge, including contest rules, a FAQ, a press release template, a printable reading log map, posters, bookmarks, and more at the link.
We are also making available more than 700 free Texas America250 Traveling Exhibits, consisting of five standing banners displaying images of Texas Treasures from the State Archives, with descriptive text suitable for visitors of all ages. Main public library locations received their exhibits directly from the vendor in October. Additional sets are being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue to be shipped through early 2026. Due to limited supply, not all applicants will receive an exhibit. Host institutions may display their exhibits any time from receipt through the America250 celebrations in 2026. There is no cost to exhibit hosts, including shipping/delivery, and exhibits do not need to be returned. Learn more at the link.
TSLAC has created a suite of free promotional resources, including posters, bookmarks, coloring pages, digital graphics, and much more. Check out our Downloads page to browse and download for local use.
Libraries are encouraged to submit their special events, celebrations, and programming to the official Texas America250 Events Calendar.
We would love to see and share photos and videos of library patrons and communities participating in Texas America250 programs. Please tag us @tslac on social media, and use the hashtag #TexasAmerica250. Thank you for celebrating with us!
TSLAC is proud to work alongside the Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism Office; the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission; the State Board of Education; and the Bullock Texas State History Museum on the Texas America250 Commission.
