seal her independence by negotiation. I have lately written
to Vanzandt, to Benton—Choate—Bayard—Walker—Colquist
Barrow—Porter & Cutterden in regard to our matters & annoy
others as to the necessity of & justice of the US Senate
reconsidering the vote regarding the 4th & 5th Acts of ___ [?]
treaty. Never did I want a few extra dollars so much
in life I would soon be on the way to Washington City[.]
Mrs Reily requests to be remembered to both
yourself & Lady & desires me to say to her that the
very first letter she writes will be to her[.]
