away and then they are brought back
and punished. This is on the outside.
The last time I saw a man punished
on the horse was three or four
weeks ago; am sure it has not
been more than six weeks since. When the
man was taken off he could not
walk. I never was horsed. It
affects the back. I have known
persons die in the stocks. I did not
see it but I know it. There was
a man stocked and taken to his
cell. It was cell no 7. The next
morning I saw his bed in
the back alley and it was full of
blood.
