Bill Clements

President Ronald Reagan, former President Gerald Ford, and Governor Clements at a fundraising event for Reagan and Clements, June 1982. The Republican fundraiser took place at the Albert Thomas Convention Center in Houston and reportedly raised $3 million at the $1,000 a plate dinner. Former Texas Governors Allan Shivers, Preston Smith, John Connally all endorsed Clements at the fundraiser. Vice President George W. Bush was also present at the event. Image digitized from slide.
