Boy Scouts appreciation certificate

Certificate of Appreciation from the Heart O' Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Governor Clements was a scout during his youth and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. A long-time supporter of scouting, he was presented numerous certificates and was given a variety of gifts by scouts during his first term as Governor of Texas. For some years he funded $3,000 college scholarships for as many as thirty scouts nationwide. At least four notebooks of photographs of those scouts and their thank you letters are among Governor Clements' papers.
