John Ford to McArdle, March 2, 1890
Handbook of Texas article on John S. "Rip" Ford

San Antonio, March 2, 1890.
H. A. McArdle,
Painter & Sculptor,
Independence, Texas.
Dear Sir:
Sometime past I am [of the] opinion that
I sent the photograph of Mr. Miles, and perhaps of Silvester, to Mr. Huddle,
of Austin. If you will write to him and send this letter in the
envelope, I am sure he will forward you what he has. He did not
use the photographs sent him, and will have no use, probably, for
them. They must be placed again in the possession of Mrs. Crawford.
She is the daughter of Mr. Miles, an old veteran, and an excellent
gentleman, now dead.
I remember your picture of Lee at the Wilderness that [when]
you exhibited it at Austin, and know it was burned in the
Capitol. If you are engaged in any patriotic work I wish you
success.
I am, dear Sir, sincerely yours.
John S. Ford.
