San Antonio Texas October 15th 1885.

Mr. H. A. McArdle

Dear Sir,

Your very complementary letter of the 12th

is duly at hand, and very highly appreciated.

I have a promise of the Picture of

the Alamo from Mr. Gentilz and will obtain one for

you if possible & I may [be] able soon to send you

mine as I am. An Artist in Galveston took

100 or two hundred pictures at Galveston in 1879 of the

Texas Veterans[.] [H]e has mine also.

I have a Photograph of Capt Sylvester from

New Orleans about 3 years since-he is now dead. [H]e was our

color-bearer and 2nd Sergeant.

I am with Respect

Yours Truly

Edward Miles

P.S. I received two pictures from Col Bryan. I have given

the one to [of] "Big Foot" to a neighbor of his who will see that

it is delivered in due season.
