Dr Sir

Yours of the 5th has been

in hand a few days and I Reply at my earliest

convenience as requested by you.

My Brother Gen’l Ben McCulloch was full six

feet high[,] weight about 165 pounds and was as

straight as an Indian! His complexion was fair

Eyes deep blue, hair tolerable light, Beard

heavy and dark brown.

The photograph sent you was a

copy of one taken in Memphis Tenn about the

beginning of the Confederate War and is a good

picture of him at the time it was taken.

He was then in fine health and at his full

weight.

Yours Truly

Henry E. McCulloch
