Mary Briscoe to McArdle, July 1894

            My husband was six feet

in his stockings, blue eyes, light brown

hair, wore a military blue frock

coat. I sent you his photo. when

you were going to paint the

signers of the Declaration of

Independence.

            Hoping that these items may

help you to place him in a

favorable location in your

picture, I am very truly your

well wisher

M. J. Briscoe
