October is national and Texas Archives Month! As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is highlighting how essential archives are to telling our American stories with the Texas Archives Month poster and website: www.tsl.texas.gov/arc/thrab/archivesmonthposter. Visit the link to explore the poster online and download a copy for yourself.

The annual poster is part of Texas Archives Month celebrations happening this month as archival repositories engage the public with programs and activities around the state. Personnel from Texas archives are invited to submit their planned Texas Archives Month activities for inclusion on the online calendar —and Texans are encouraged to visit the page to find Archives Month exhibits, events, and more: www.tsl.texas.gov/arc/thrab/archivesmonth.

The Texas Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB) and TSLAC work together to promote Texas Archives Month. THRAB serves as an advisory body for historical records planning and supports efforts to preserve and provide access to archival collections throughout the state, with funding from the National Historical Publications Records Commission, the grant-making arm of the National Archives and Records Administration. The state archivist is appointed by the governor to preside over the nine-member board. Visit www.tsl.texas.gov/thrab to learn more about THRAB and its offerings.
