Our patrons can request a TexShare Card if their account has been open for 90+ days and if there are no fines or overdue items. They must present their library card and their Texas ID to be issued a TexShare Card.

If someone who has been issued a TexShare card by their home library wants to borrow materials at HCPL, they will be issued a regular, full-service library card after they provide proof of a Texas mailing address. HCPL does not issue special TexShare borrower cards nor do we validate TexShare cards with a barcode because all residents of Texas are eligible for HCPL library cards.

Texshare card holders will be issued a full-service Harris County Public Library card if they have proof of Texas residency. Full-service cards have a 75 physical item check out limit with no item type restrictions. Full-service cards include access to our digital collections and resources. Non-Circulating: Some reference materials, professional collection, microfilm, and microfiche items do not circulate.
