the presence of the Garrison. No
indian depredations have been com-
mitted of any kind since that de-
tailed in my first communication.  

            But little has occurred in
my command worthy of note, since
my last. The Garrison has been
quite healthy, and has not suf-
fered by the epidemic which has
raged so fatally amongst the in-
habitants. I attribute this, in part,
to the care which has been taken in rendering
their quarters as comfortable as circum-
stances would allow.
On the 1st of January, I lost one man who
was shot by the Comanchees [sic] from
an ambush on the San Antonio road,
about 75 miles from this place.
