Archives tell the Texas story. Our history is revealed through the records we produce. Manuscripts, photographs, maps, government documents, artifacts, and sound and moving images tell us about our past. They also help us understand who we are today.
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission manages millions of these and other types of records.
So, we decided to let our staff take you on a tour of our stacks by spotlighting some of their favorite things. Archivists and librarians have selected items that offer a fascinating glimpse into our state’s past, and they share something about what makes those records unique and important.
