will force itself lastingly

on the minds of those who

may view your picture.

            It really seems strange to

me that so long a time should

have passed by since this

design was made, without

being placed on canvas.

I am well aware of the expense

attending the painting of such

a subject. But I think the

State of Texas should never have

allowed the opportunity to pass

of securing this in a canvas

picture of suitable size for her

State House. Please accept my

thanks for sending me the photo.

and accompanying papers, all

            Wishing you success in all

your work believe me

Ever sincerely your

D. A. Woodward
