Woodward to McArdle, 1890

In regard to the picture at

Washington D.C. of the storming

of Chapultepec I have made

enquiries for you and would

recommend you to write Mr.

C. M. Bell Photographer or Mr.

M. D. Rice Photographer, both of

Washington. I am told they

both have copies of the pictures

in Washington. A letter addressed

[to] either or both at Washington

would bring a reply.

The average size of life size

male heads in portraiture ranges

from 9 or 9 1/4 to 10 in. Those

of heroic proportion are

larger, the size being determined

by the heighth [sic] of the position

from where they will be viewed

For a large head will appear

small if hung high enough.
