My dear Sir.

            Your two letters of the

13th & 14th to hand with the

photo. of your San Jacinto picture.

            From the faint idea con-

veyed by the photo. I judge

the work to be very successful

and elaborate, and reflecting

much credit upon your

untiring energy and ability

as an artist.

            It seems to me that the

people of Texas should never

permit the picture to be

taken to any other state,

as the history of the great

event which it depicts

belongs especially to them &

their descendants. You ask
