Dear Sir
Your favor
of Sept 23rd ult reached me several days
since and in reply beg here to inform you
that a full and authentic Statement of
the Capture of Genl Santa Anna may be
found among the archives of the Texas Histor-
ical Society at Galveston being written
from memory after the lapse of thirty six years,
to which I respectfully refer you.
At your request I enclose a photograph
taken several years since, which I consider
a very good likeness and wish you every
success in your most laudable undertaking.
I am glad to see the name of an old friend
mentioned in your letter, and I beg to assure
the old Veterans that I bear their memory in
sacred recollection.
Yours Respectfully
Jas. A. Sylvester
