Jackson to McArdle, November 1885

it will be necessary for you to

find it in the statutes which cre-

ated it. It would seem to be equally

impossible to procure models of Mexi-

can arms and uniforms, or of arms

and uniforms and banners captured

from the Texans. The supposition and

statement is, that all of these relics and

trophies were either sent to Europe du-

ring the Empire, or were destroyed

in revolutions which preceded and

followed it.

            It has been intimated to

me that possibly a close examina

tion of the contents of the Palace

might give you some light; but

the prospect of success is not bright

enough to justify my advising you

to make the journey hither.
