Mrs. Henrietta Lamar to McArdle, April 4, 1891
Handbook of Texas article on Mirabeau B. Lamar
April 4th /91
Mr McArdle
Dear Sir
I exceedingly
regret not having been able to
to [sic] assist you in getting a good
likeness of my noble husband[;] [I]
have written to Judge Lamar
twice on the subject who [& he] seemed
much interested & said he
would try his best to procure
the picture loaned his Son
& I thought from his letter
that it would have been
sent ere this. I have just
now written to him again
enclosing your letter, just
received, & hope for an early
response. Mr. Chappell
whose mother has the other
picture-writes that he has
had several photo's taken
from it, but has not been
successful in getting a good
likeness-but I will again
write & urge him for I
will be truly disappointed
if I cannot be of assistance
to you in your work, which
would be most gratifying to
me & my daughter.
Yours respectfully
Henrietta Lamar
