E-Read Texas - Join
E-Read Texas brings electronic books and audiobooks to Texans served by small community libraries in all parts of the state. E-Read Texas provides over 20,000 downloadable e-books and audiobooks and a mobile e-reader application that make it possible for all Texans served by public libraries to access e-books.
The E-Read Texas collection primarily includes adult fiction and popular non-fiction and is most appropriate for an adult audience.

Are we eligible to join E-Read Texas?
Public libraries must meet the following criteria in order to join E-Read Texas:
- Submit the Public Libraries Annual Report to TSLAC each year
- Note that accreditation is NOT required, but you must submit the annual report each year to remain in the program.
- Meet the definition of a public library, see 13 TAC 1.71
AND
- Library serves a community of no more than 100,000 people OR has electronic collection expenditure of less than $100,000 per year
How do libraries sign up?
The E-Read Texas program is not accepting new libraries at this time, but TSLAC anticipates re-opening the program in late Spring 2026. Please contact ebooks@tsl.texas.gov if you have questions.

As of April 2026, 206 libraries across Texas participate in the program.
