Independence.

Dear Sir.

            I hope you will par-

don my delay in replying to yours concern-

ing the painting of our Mothers picture on

the Flag of the Battle of San Jacinto. I con-

sulted Col. Brady on the subject,  my district

being out of the state, and he agreed

with me that it would not seem ap-

propriate in as much as it would be

impossible to obtain a likeness of

her in her younger days. All the

pictures we have of her being taken late

in life. I am glad to know the name

of my Fathers Company. I think I never

heard it before. Wishing you much

success in your Grand Undertaking—
