Belle Sherman Kendall to McArdle, September 2, 1890
Handbook of Texas article on Sidney Sherman
Houston Sept 22nd 1890
Mr. H. A. McArdle
Independence.
Dear Sir.
I hope you will par-
don my delay in replying to yours concern-
ing the painting of our Mothers picture on
the Flag of the Battle of San Jacinto. I con-
sulted Col. Brady on the subject, my district
being out of the state, and he agreed
with me that it would not seem ap-
propriate in as much as it would be
impossible to obtain a likeness of
her in her younger days. All the
pictures we have of her being taken late
in life. I am glad to know the name
of my Fathers Company. I think I never
heard it before. Wishing you much
success in your Grand Undertaking—
I am Sincerely,
Belle S. Kendall
