Dear Sir
Your favor of the 7th Inst to
my Son was handed me
and almost immediately I
sent to one party who had
one of my copies of [Thomas Jefferson] Greens
"History of the Mier Expedition"
to know if they were through
with it. As yet I have
not received a reply-so soon
as I hear from Mr Davis who
borrowed the book near eighteen
months since to have a few
copies made from this one
he said "merely as keepsakes
in their families" (The
