Edwin W. Moore to the War Department, December 1842I sincerely hope that in a short time the
appropriation made by the Extra Session of
Congress for the Navy will be available in
order that we may be at Sea; and I feel it
my duty to state to the Department that until
the officers are provided for at least in some
measure that it will not be possible for them
to remain in the service.
